Experience Mexico…

Often when we think of travelling to Mexico we think of All-inclusive resorts, sandy beaches, water sports, cuisine, cruise-line ports and alcohol. But Mexico is full of historical and cultural sites, amazing bio-diversity and several religious sites that millions of pilgrims visit every year.

In 2016 Mexico welcomed 35 million international tourists making it the 8th most popular tourist destination in the world! This was up 9% from the previous year, and generated a 10.4% increase in spending by international visitors. Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Baja California, Riviera Maya and Yucatan region including Tulum, all were ranked high in Travel Publications, including the New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic!

What about security? It is no secret that crime in Mexico is also rising. This increase in crime has created new travel warnings for U.S. citizens traveling to Mexico, which should be checked before booking any vacation. You can find the new Mexico Travel Warnings here. Most of these crimes are targeted crimes between rival gangs over territory and as the travel warning states “Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico generally do not see the level of drug-related violence and crime that are reported in the border region or in areas along major trafficking routes,”. No matter where in the world you are traveling, it is always important that you are aware of your surroundings and listen to what the locals and experts are telling you! It is wise to book your trips through travel agents as they know the reputable companies and generally can offer you additional tips to keep you safe.
