Grand Teton National Park

All of my bucket list trips so far have been grand trips, to grand places, but to be honest my favorite place in the entire world, the place where I am most “me”, is Grand Teton National Park. I realize that a bucket list is meant to be things you have not done, but there is so much more to still discover in the Tetons, that I feel it should be there every year. Besides it is my sanctuary, place of refuge, island of discernment. A place where whatever is going on in my world is left at the entrance gate and I just enjoy the world the way I believe God intended me too. John Muir once said “The mountains are calling and I must go.”, and after a visit to Grand Teton National Park, it is not hard to understand how he felt.

The breakdown of costs for me to visit Grand Teton National Park are below. I am lucky in that I have a lot of the stuff I need and I can easily drive it, making this trip more of a question as to why I do not do it every year, then why it is on my bucket list!14191923_10153729260172541_2953142700817873270_n
Park Pass: $80
Camping: $93 (3 nights)
Kayak permit: $12
Jenny Lake Shuttle: $15
Pizza, beer and ice cream at Leek’s Marina: $30
Gas: $120
Total adventure: $350

A couple of things that are must-do’s for me while in GTNP is spending some time kayaking String Lake, Leigh Lake, any of the lakes and my ultimate bucket list would be through Oxbow Bend, early in the morning! Oxbow Bend is my holy of holy places, the place where for a moment heaven meets earth and harmony and peace exist.

Hiking is a given while visiting GTNP and many great hikes take off from Jenny Lake including Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point and Cascade Canyon. Taking the shuttle across the lake brings you right to the trailheads, and an opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful areas, away from the crowds. One hike that is at the top of my list of hikes still to do is Amphitheater Lake, a 9.9 miles hike that brings you through stunning views and two glacial lakes. Definitely need to get a little more training in before taking on that!

One of the main things however I want to point out about this bucket list trip especially is that your national parks are closer and more affordable then you think! Take the time to go out and visit YOUR parks, unplug and enjoy a night under the stars, go off the beaten path in a kayak, breath the fresh air, rediscover you! Even just a few days away can have refresh and renew you, while being easy on your budget.

See the Northern Lights!

A common theme that appears in my travel bucket list is places of whimsey and magic. I love the idea of exploring nature, seeing the world as God intended us to view it, with wonder and awe! I have been obsessed with the idea of the Northern Lights since I first saw them in a Christmas picture as a little kid and have made it a life-long quest to catch just a glimpse of them! There is not better place to view them then in Iceland, plus Island is the island of Fire and Ice, allowing for some incredible sightseeing, hiking, and even thermal experiences.

I have heard several people talk about wanting to see the Northern Lights and having the opportunity to visit Iceland. I finally connected the dots and realized that if this is on not only my bucket list, but several others, working in the travel industry, maybe I should just make it happen! So I am going to do just that, plus give all my dreamers out there they chance to save up for it! So mark your calendar now for November 11-17, 2019 for a 7 day/5 Night adventure to experience Icelands Magical Northern Lights! The trip is going to be around $3,000/pp and includes:

Flight, lodging, transportation, tours, guides and 10 meals in Iceland!

Costa Rica.. March 2019!

Okay so I missed yesterdays bucket list trip, but it was for a good reason! I opportunity to spend some time with my niece and nephew! Never fear however, today you will get a two-for, and two incredible opportunities for you to travel as well!

Yes, this is another tropical adventure that is on my bucket list! And also one that you will be seeing much more about as I am hosting a 9 day tour March 30-April 7th, 2019. The trip includes:
A trip to a coffee plantation
A day at the beach
An adventure through the Monteverde cloud forest that includes either a tour of the Screen Shot 2018-07-06 at 10.28.50 PM“Hanging Bridges”, or a Zip Line tour!
A delightful cruise on Lake Arenal as well as a canoe trip at Cano Negro.

9 Nights, 13 Meals, flights, transportation around Costa Rica, a tour guide, and incredible memories, for less than $3,000/person!

So why Costa Rica? Primarily because of the incredible ecosystem, conservation efforts and the chance to do some incredible hiking and finally getting to Zip line! Could you do it for cheaper, absolutely! However you do not have the advantage of traveling with a professional guide, pre-arranged tours, and meals already taken care of!

One of the perks of traveling on a prearranged group tour is that it is okay if you do not have a travel buddy to go with you, or if you are a couple, giving you the peace of mind of traveling with someone who knows the area. Also as the tour group travels together you are always surrounded by people, have people to eat with, and meet incredible people who share your same love of travel. It truly is a great opportunity to get out! A vacation where you get to sit back, relax and take it all in! Who is ready to go? More details coming soon, but I would be happy to put you on the list for more information if you are interested. Space is limited!

Ireland!

I know this is another repeat, but it is my travel bucket list, and Ireland is right up at the top! To price this trip out, I went a little different and based it on when I could find the best price for a flight! Low and behold I found a roundtrip ticket out of Denver, Departing May 1, 2019 and Returning on May 11, 2019 for $565!

One of my desires in traveling to Ireland is to not really be stuck to a schedule. I want to spend some time in County Cork researching what I can about my family, but I also want to hit all the fun spots and great Pubs! I want to stay in Bed and Breakfasts and plan to just go day-by-day. I will definitely have reservations upon my arrival in Dublin, and the night before I depart, but thats it! Two of my best friends traveled through Ireland this way and loved it! Based on some research, I am planning on about $1000 for lodging, but I know that is high! Car rental is close to $400.

This is an adventure I actually wouldn’t mind doing by myself… maybe that should make it even higher on my bucket list? I only had to price it out for one person, so the estimated cost would be $1,965. Honestly I believe I could do it for close to $1500 if I do a little bit more research before I land at places for the night! Also for two people, I estimate it would only be $2830. Not a bad price for a bit of luck of the Irish!

I also would HIGHLY encourage Ireland as a great pilgrimage option for your faith community! St. Patrick and St. Bridgid are beloved Saints, and there is even a great option to add on Scotland. Ireland truly is an enchanted land, full of something for everyone!

New York City!

As we celebrate the 4th of July today, its a great day to talk about a bucket list trip to New York City!! Ever since I was a little girl in ballet class, I have dreamed of making it to Screen Shot 2018-07-03 at 9.43.15 PMBroadway! Okay, so obviously I am not going to make it as a star, but one day I will make it as a spectator. While my original bucket list trip was only to go to New York (and visit some very dear friends in Brooklyn!), after two friends asked me to help them plan a trip to NYC and Niagara Falls, I decided to extend my bucket list trip as well!

Screen Shot 2018-07-03 at 9.44.02 PM

Because I do have a couple of great friends in Brooklyn and New York, I would initially add in a few days just to spend with them and let them show me their City, and hopefully let me stay with them! So my trip to New York City will be closer to 7 days, with the 3 days extension to Niagara Falls for a total of 10 days!

Here are the price breakdown for me!
Flights- $270
7 Nights staying with friends- negotiable!
2 Nights Niagara Falls- $551
NYC Pass- $199
Broadway Tickets- $120
Train tickets to Niagara Falls and onto Toronto- $130
So roughly $1300.

Why haven’t I done this? It’s time to get to Broadway!!!
